Sky Q experiences dropouts with 4K

Modified on Mon, 15 Jun at 3:50 PM

The Sky Q receiver has a known issue when operated in HDR mode (2160p UHD 10-bit) and connected to an HDMI matrix switch, HDMI splitter or eARC pass-through switch that splits the HDMI signal. There is a signal dropout lasting 1–2 seconds approximately every half hour. The TV screen briefly goes black, then the picture returns. We have noticed that the HDR mode is sometimes set incorrectly when the picture returns. This problem does not occur with any other media player. It does not happen when Sky Q is set to UHD 8-bit.

We therefore recommend setting Sky Q to 4K or 2160p UHD 8-bit (or a lower video resolution).
